By accessing or using MyCitations ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions of this agreement, you may not access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

MyCitations provides a citation generation tool that allows users to create properly formatted citations for academic and research purposes. The Service retrieves and formats bibliographic information from identifiers such as DOIs, ISBNs, and arXiv IDs.

3. User Accounts

MyCitations does not currently require user registration or account creation. All citations are stored locally in your browser and are not associated with any user account.

If we add account functionality in the future, additional terms may apply.

4. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by MyCitations and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws.

Citations generated by the Service are based on factual bibliographic information and may be used freely by users for academic, research, and personal purposes.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to use the Service:

• In any way that violates any applicable federal, state, local, or international law or regulation
• To attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the system or to breach security measures
• To generate citations for content that infringes upon any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other intellectual property rights of others
• To transmit any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code designed to disrupt, damage, or limit the functioning of any computer software or hardware
• To use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or similar technologies to access or use the Service

6. Limitation of Liability

While MyCitations strives to provide accurate citation formatting, we cannot guarantee that all citations generated will be 100% accurate or free from errors. Users should always verify citations against the appropriate style guide or institutional requirements.

In no event shall MyCitations, its officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

• Your use or inability to use the Service
• Any content obtained from the Service
• Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
• Statements or conduct of any third party on the Service

7. Third-Party Services

MyCitations may retrieve bibliographic information from third-party services and databases. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or reliability of information obtained from these sources.

The use of third-party services within MyCitations is subject to their respective terms of service.

8. Modifications to Service

MyCitations reserves the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of changes by posting the updated terms on this page with a new effective date.

Your continued use of the Service following the posting of any changes to the Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
