Getting Started
How to Generate a Citation
Creating citations with MyCitations is straightforward and takes just a few seconds:
- Select an identifier type (DOI, ISBN, arXiv ID) or use Auto-detect
- Enter the identifier in the input field
- Choose your preferred citation format (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.)
- Click the "Generate" button
- Your citation will appear below, ready to use
All citations are automatically saved in your library for future reference.
Working with Your Citation Library
MyCitations automatically saves your generated citations, making it easy to build your reference list as you work:
- Each new citation is automatically saved and marked as "New"
- Use the sort options to organize your citations (Alphabetical, Newest, etc.)
- Click the copy icon to copy any citation to your clipboard
- Use "Copy All" to copy your entire reference list at once
- Export to Word to download your reference list as a formatted document
Frequently Asked Questions
MyCitations supports all major citation formats, including APA (6th & 7th editions), MLA, Chicago, Harvard, Vancouver, IEEE, and more.
This usually happens if the identifier is incorrect or if the source isn't included in our connected databases. Double-check your identifier and try again. If the problem persists, you can manually add citation information when prompted.
Yes! MyCitations stores your citation library locally in your browser. Your citations will remain available when you return as long as you use the same browser and don't clear your browser data.
Currently, our automatic generator requires one of these identifiers. However, when the system can't find your source, it will prompt you to enter the information manually. We're working on adding more source types and identification methods in future updates.
Hover over the citation card and click the trash icon that appears in the top right corner. You can also clear your entire library by clicking the "Delete All" button above your citation list.
